It is a fact that Americans live in the greatest country in the world. Despite its frailties, that are common to any society America has proven itself to be the place that offers vast opportunities for achievement for anyone that is willing to set goals, work hard and persevere in spite of the odds that sometimes overshadow their personal circumstances.

Many of the things that others outside of this country simply dream about are attainable in America. We can acquire homes, automobiles, cash, funds for education, jewelry, clothing, and a variety of personal purchases on credit. We can even borrow money for business purposes. In all of these scenarios, if we qualify and are deemed credit worthy, we are afforded the opportunity to tap into and access sources for money that we can agree to pay back over a period of time. Because credit is so readily available to most of us America has become a credit society. As ideal as this credit privilege sounds, because of personal financial setbacks that are fueled by job loss, business failure, sickness, divorces and separations, death, disasters, and other devastating state of affairs, a lot of Americans have moved from the American dream to the American nightmare. Then there are those of us that have fell prey to credit abuse. These are they that have put themselves in an unnecessary bind because of the availability of credit and their champagne taste or out of control spending habits didnt match up with what their budget allows. Even though some of us have not experienced these types of financial predicaments some of us are right on the brink. Thats right, living from paycheck to paycheck, little or no savings, perhaps working more than one job and just a paycheck away from poverty.

If he American nightmare hasnt caught up with you yet, I hope that it never does. Unfortunately, for thousands of consumers that have either read my newspaper columns over the last several years, attended my seminars, or have conferred with me directly, there is a serious growing debt crisis in America. The purpose of this booklet is to provide the American consumer with vital information pertaining to how to cope with this ever-present dilemma, or hopefully, avoid it completely.
